There are SO many options on how to announce your baby’s gender! You can have a party, post a cute photo, do a fun video that goes from black and white then switches to color, or simply send everyone a text message. Gender reveals can be done any way you want to. You can keep them simple or make it as extravagant as you want. No matter how you decide to do it, its always so much fun!
Posting a cute photo can really be anything you can think of! I have seen blue or pink painted nails holding tiny baby shoes, holding blue or pink balloons with a cute matching baby outfit, or having an older sibling holding a sign saying “it’s a boy!” or “it’s a girl!”. There really are endless possibilities when it comes to posting a cute gender reveal photo.
There are just as many possibilities when it comes to doing a fun video. You could do a black and white video of you putting your hands in paint and touching your belly and then switching to color to reveal what color the paint is. You could record you and your significant other facing backwards and one turns around with a giant flash card that says “It’s a…” and then the other turns around with a giant flash card saying the gender. Again, there are just so many possibilities, you can make it however you want!
Gender reveal parties are my favorite option simply because you can have someone else set it up for you and you get to be surprised along with everyone at the party! Now, what I mean by have someone else set it up for you, is that you can have the ultrasound tech write it down and put it in an envelope. You can then give it to a family member or friend if you want them to set up the reveal for you (and trust them to not tell anyone), or you can take the envelope to a baker and they can look and make a cake with the correct color icing inside or cupcakes with one filled with the correct color icing. Another options is taking it to a balloon shop and showing them, they will then put the correct color confetti in the balloon as they air it up for you. These are just a few of the ways you could do a gender reveal at a party. There are a ton more and you can even create your own!
For our first baby we had a gender reveal party with the theme of cowboy or cowgirl. We got all kinds of decorations, made food, had cupcakes, played gender related games, and of course had the big reveal. The party was about 6 hours long and we had a great time. For the reveal, we came up with our own idea to make it unique to us and our theme. We bought blue baby cowboy boots and pink baby cowgirl boots, I decorated a small box that said “Baby is a…”, and I made a pink banner and a blue banner saying “GIRL” and “BOY”. Then our friend that knew the gender picked out the boots and banner set them up and put the box over it. When it was time to do the reveal we simply lifted the box and there stood the blue boots with the blue “BOY” banner! It works out great and matched our theme perfectly.
Now, for our second baby, we are not doing all of that. We are still having a party because like I said, I think they are a blast for everyone! However, we are only doing a 3 hour party with some simple finger foods and cupcakes. Keeping the decorations simple to match our “tractor or tiara” theme and an easy balloon drop gender reveal. We decided to just keep it fun, simple, and quick because being pregnant with a toddler is EXHAUSTING to say the least and doing all the work we did for the first one does not sounds fun this time. As I said before, making a gender reveal exactly what you are wanting is key and will make for a great experience during this wonderful time of your pregnancy! You got this momma!
